Food in the Capital: A sustainable food event for Canberra and the surrounding region

Urban farming, food wastage, sustainability, social ventures, vertical farming and food innovation are all topics that will be discussed at the upcoming Food in the Capital event series. It’s the first sustainable food conference of its kind to come to Canberra, and it kicks off on 17 November 2020.

Originally a 3-day conference scheduled for April this year, Food in the Capital is now a three-day program that will run over the next 12 months with more than 95 speakers featured from around the globe.

During online and face-to-face sessions, speakers will discuss the latest innovations in rural and urban farming, together with practical solutions to food production, transport and sales.

The event will initiate a unique city region agrifood initiative and the goal is to boost regional business opportunities, to cultivate ideas to boost local food production and to sell more local food in Canberra and the region.

Food in the Capital aims to connect people from the industry, including farmers, food businesses and manufacturers, community groups, thought leaders and policy makers.

Each event will be a unique deep dive into different aspects of urban and regional sustainable food production and Icon Water and the Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources will host number of food farm tours for attendees.

Anyone who books tickets the November event will be able to attend the following two events in 2021 for free.
