Table by Canberra Gourmet: The Table you need to secure a seat at in Canberra

How does an intimate and unique fine-dining experience with you and a maximum of 7 others sound? What if we throw a few more things in the pot to entice you…. A six-course degustation with an amuse bouche or three, choose to add wine pairings to your experience or BYO, watch the chef cook your dinner and enjoy a cooking demonstration because the dining Table is in the same room as the kitchen. Have we got your attention? You’ll find everything mentioned above at Table by Canberra Gourmet in Wanniassa.

Table by Canberra Gourmet is a ticketed event with only 8 tickets available to purchase for each session, with the dinners starting at 6:30pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. There’s also a lunch session available at 12:30pm on Saturdays. With limited numbers, tickets to this incredibly unique and delicious dining experience usually sell out weeks in advance.

Chef Thomas Heinrich is the man behind Table and Canberra Gourmet. Thomas and his wife Larah (also a chef) worked quickly to create an income from their gourmet frozen meals due to the impact that COVID-19 had on their family and Thomas’ job.

Larah and Thomas combined their experience and their German and Filipino heritage to create a range of meals for you to buy and enjoy at home. Canberra Gourmet meals include crispy pork shanks, 8-hour braised lamb shanks, Hungarian beef goulash, Balinese chicken skewers, braised beef cheeks, confit duck leg and more. The hard work has been done for you so you just need to finish each dish off at home and serve it with your preferred side dishes.

The Canberra Gourmet products helped them generate an income when the the COVID-19 restrictions were at their strictest. When restrictions started to ease they introduced Table, their new dining experience in Canberra and I was one of the foodies on the first table of 8 people to dine at Table.

Thomas is well known for the amazing dishes he’s created at one of Canberra’s best resturants, Sage. But before moving to Canberra, Thomas gained a lifetime of experience in fine-dining, hospitality and running hotels and restaurant kitchens in New York, Chicago, Vancouver and Sydney.

He’s now showcasing that experience in his own unique way and is proud to have opened his own restaurant, Table by Canberra Gourmet. You need to experience it for yourself to taste the quality of his food and to understand his dedication to fine-dining and customer service.

Every dish I ate was beautiful and I look forward to returning again, and again. See the gallery below that features some of the dishes I ate when I dined at Table.
