The Goodie Box Series: Fresh produce and groceries

Each week we will be bringing you a list of amazing food bundles that local cafes, restaurants, grocers, food suppliers and other food and beverage businesses are putting together. We want you to be able to enjoy fresh produce, unique hampers and signature dishes in the comfort of your own home. Isolation never tasted so good, and supporting local businesses is so important during these tough and uncertain times.

In the first instalment of the Goodie Box Series, we have rounded up a list of fresh produce and grocery boxes that you can order to be delivered straight to your door, or pick up in a safe environment. It’s a great way to avoid the big supermarkets and support small local businesses.

Choku Bai Jo

Known for their high-quality organic produce, Choku Bai Jo have created colourful options to keep you in good health during isolation. Ranging from $25 – $90 you can choose a produce box that works for you and your family.

Wiffens

If you’re missing the products from Wiffens at Fyshwick Fresh Food Markets, never fear! Because you can do your usual shop with a just few clicks online. Choose from organic health foods, fruit and veggie boxes, spices, smallgoods, dairy items and even fresh flowers to brighten up the house during isolation!

The Red Barron

These boxes are packed full of everything you will ever need. You can choose fresh fruit and veggies, or indulge in bigger packages that include fresh bread, pasta, milk, eggs, meat and pastries. The Butlers Pantry Box will certainly have you covered! You can even enjoy a a free Mothersky Coffee or hot beverage when you order and pick up in store.

The Cook Grocer

Choose from a seasonal mixed fruit and veggie box for $50, or customise your order to include popular goodies from local businesses such as Bentspoke, Canberra Distillery, Canberra Urban Honey, Pialligo Smokehouse and many more.

Local Press Wholefoods

Customise your grocery box with wholefood staples, bulk dry goods, fresh fruit and veggies, and home, bath and body essentials. You can provide your own containers from home to fill up, or purchase some of theirs to reduce food waste.

The Knox

Ever wanted to bake amazing pastries like they do at The Knox? Now you can! They’re offering the same flours and ingredients used to make their mouth-watering goodies, as well as fresh produce, wine, sweet treats and meal packages like their ‘brekkie kit’. It includes everything you will need to cook the perfect brekkie at home!

Highroad

Supporting local farmers during this time is the aim of the game for Highroad! Their seasonal produce boxes range from $30 – $50 each and come from Canberra region suppliers. Add extras like milk, free-range eggs, Highroads’ famous granola, sourdough, house-made jams, beer, wine and Ona coffee beans.

The Cupping Room Grocer

The much-loved Cupping Room café has transformed into an adorable pop-up grocer! You can pick up essential items, fresh fruit and veggies, tinned and dry goods, coffee beans and much more. You can also grab a takeaway coffee or one of their famous shakes while grocery shopping!

Drop by to choose and collect your groceries, while also being comforted by the social distancing measures the Cupping Room are putting in place to make it safer for you.

Tom’s Superfruits

One of Belconnen’s Fresh Food Markets’ oldest suppliers has made it easier to buy a wide range of fruit and veggies with the click of a button. Boxes range from $30 for simple fruit and veg to $150, which includes a bigger variety, plus milk, eggs and bread.

Mountain Creek Wholefoods x Organic Energy

Two of the most popular businesses at Griffith shops have teamed up to provide you with organic produce, plus pantry, home and lifestyle items from one of Canberra’s best health food stores. You can see what brands and products are available at Mountain Creek by visiting their website.

You can email mountaincreek@webone.com with both your produce and health store list, or if it’s just fruit and veggies you’re after you can order online with Organic Energy. Pick up and home delivery options available.

Ziggy’s Fresh

Located at the Belconnen and Fyshwick fresh food markets, Ziggy’s Fresh has made it so easy to get amazing produce into your hands, fuss free. Boxes range from $40 – $120 depending on how much you need! All four options include both fruit and veggie combinations.

To place an order, call 0406 536 911. Delivery is $10, or contactless pick up from either Fyshwick or Belconnen markets is available. Orders must be placed before 5pm the day before delivery.

Pialligo Estate

The team at Pialligo Estate adapted quickly and have opened the Pialligo Estate Grocer, a Click n Collect contact-free service. They’ve opened their orchards, market gardens, butchery, bakery, smokehouse, kitchens, wine cellar and beer fridge to supply the community with their amazing produce during these tough times.
