The White Jacket Effect: The realities of working in the hospitality industry

I’ve said it before and I’ll continue to say it again….. and again. Working in the hospitality industry is a tough gig and there are lots of difficulties that customers might not understand. It’s easy for people to write a negative review online or to get angry if they have to wait an extra 10 minutes for their meals when a venue is run off their feet.

But did you know that social isolation, alcohol and drug abuse, relationship breakdown, stress, anxiety, depression and suicide are just some of the issues that are impacting the hospitality community.

These are some of the reasons why The White Jacket Effect will be working towards opening up dialogue about mental health in the hospitality industry.

The White Jacket Effect is led by Amber Kaba and on Monday 22nd July she will be joined by Alex Piris from Fox and Bow Cafe and other leaders in Canberra’s hospitality industry, for their first event at The Boat House before they take the campaign interstate.

This event is for hospitality workers, educators, industry leaders, services providers and anyone who has connections or links with the hospitality industry.

There are only a handful of tickets left. Tickets are only $35 each and you can purchase them online.
