Chunky Town has made its way to Canberra and they’re serving up Korean Dagwood Dogs

Korea’s take on the humble Aussie Dagwood Dog has made its way to Canberra. Welcome to Chunky Town!

The owner of popular Korean restaurants, Chez Kimchi (Civic) and Hangari Kimchi (Dickson) has just opened Chunky Town, next to King O’Malleys in Civic.

So what is a ‘Chunky’? It’s a sausage on a stick filled with, or without, cheddar or mozzarella cheese, dipped in a crispy and crunchy special multigrain batter and covered in panko crumbs, chunks of potato or noodles before it’s deep-fried to crispy perfection.

You can them customise your chunky with your choice of 6+ different sauces and you even have the option to coat it in sugar for that sweet and savoury flavour combo… It sounds strange but it’s actually delicious.

They range from $6-8 and there are 7 different flavours for you to choose from, including a vegetarian version of cheese and no sausage.

There are only a few seats in the small takeaway shop so it’s best to order your food to go, or if you’re a customer at King O’Malley’s (next door) you can order food from Chunky Town.

This deep-fried treat would make the perfect accompaniment to a few drinks.

Add a serve of waffle fries or a half, or full, serve of Korean fried chicken (with 12 flavours to choose from) and cheat day is sorted.

Chunky Town Canberra are giving 100 FREE Sausage Chunkies (01 on the menu) to Eat Canberra readers from now until Monday 9 March! Just follow them @chunky_town_act on Instagram (and show them in store that you’ve followed them from Eat Canberra’s post) and be one of the first 100 people to claim your FREE Sausage Chunky!
