Passiontree Velvet Canberra opened back in 2017 in Canberra Centre’s Monaro Mall, with not only their range of delicious desserts, but also a fully equipped kitchen serving up brunch dishes, and a spacious seating area for customers. They’ve now also opened a second outlet in Canberra Centre which is just focussed on cakes – you can find it just outside Fitness First.
Their cakes and macarons are all handmade by Passiontree Velvet’s skilled team of patisserie chefs. They have people who travel the world seeking inspiration for new creations so they stay on top of current trends. They love working with unique flavour combinations as well as incorporating their take on traditional flavours. They have rotating seasonal cake flavours – at the moment you’ll find chocolate peanut butter, tiramisu, lemon zest, red velvet, vanilla Nutella and black forest, to name a few – plus they also make bespoke creations, dessert tables and macarons towers.

The best seller of the collection is the Picasso – an American-style vanilla cake layered with cream cheese filling, strawberries and strawberry jam, then finished with vanilla buttercream, salted caramel and vanilla macarons and a white chocolate sail on top, plus decorative artwork that lives up to its name.
Or for a more whimsical birthday, you can’t go past their colourful Unicorn Magic cake. Complete with a rainbow mane and a gold horn, the rainbow vanilla cake has vanilla cream cheese frosting and is iced in colourful Swiss buttercream.
For all of the cakes, if you want to get exactly what you want, it’s best to order in advance. They need four business days notice to whip up your creation, and you can order your cake and pay for it online. Then just take your confirmation along to pick up the cake on the day (delivery is also available for orders over $250, with fees starting from $30).
