Canberra’s newest foodie event

Canberra Wedding Fair

A new foodie event is coming to Canberra! The Foodie Fair will be part of the Canberra Wedding Fair (CWF) from 10am until 3pm on Sunday 24th February at the AIS Arena and Eat Canberra and Eat Canberra Food Tours are proud to be a partner of this inaugural event. The event will be held twice a year, once in summer, followed by the winter event on Sunday 18 August 2019.

The CWF is ready to flourish as it goes on to celebrate 10 years in the nation’s capital. It’s now under new management by Danielle Cleary Events. There will be more than 60 exhibitors inside the Arena, with each of them offering something to help everyone plan their ideal wedding or event. Guests who purchase their tickets online will have the chance to win an Outrigger Resort, beachfront bliss Fiji getaway valued at $2000. There will also be lots of other prizes up for grabs on the day.

The Foodie Fair will have a picnic park vibe with live music and entertainment during the day. The first Foodie Fair will welcome Tikka Stand, The Pizza Trailer, Super Bao, Pure Gelato, Bellair Coffee and the Sweet Tooth Society.

If you haven’t tried the baos from Super Bao yet, this is your chance to! The soft, fluffy handmade baos are stuffed with a range of fillings including slow-braised pork belly, crackling pork, fried chicken, tempura prawn and panko crumbed tofu. They might just be the BEST baos in Canberra! We’ll leave it up to you to decide when you try them….

Craving Pizza? The Pizza Trailer will satisfy those cravings. Sourdough wood-fired pizza is a tradition in Naples, and The Pizza Trailer has brought the tradition to Canberra! Their dough is uniquely prepared using a 30-year-old sourdough starter, which was given to them by Hominy, a bakery located in the Blue Mountains. Once the dough has proved for up to 48 hours, it’s then hand stretched to order, topped using fresh, high-quality (local where possible) ingredients, before it’s cooked in their wood-fired oven. The pizzas take 90 seconds to cook and they can cook up to 5 pizzas at a time! The Pizza Trailer could make the perfect catering option for you wedding or event.

Tikka Stand will be bringing their fresh, authentic and tasty Indian BBQ street food for foodies to enjoy, as well as their new food truck that can be hired for all types of events. We highly recommend the Tikka Nest, BBQ chicken tikka served on a bed of fries with salad, cheese, sour cream and fresh coriander yoghurt sauce. It’s also gluten free and halal certified!

Have you tried jianbing? It’s a traditional Chinese street food similar to crepes. It is a type of bing generally eaten for breakfast and hailed as “one of China’s most popular street breakfasts.” Little Wu Jianbing is a very and you can find them at the Foodie Fair!

Make sure you stop by and see The Sweet Tooth Society! They bring novelty and excitement to Canberra’s sweet-scene with original recipes, Latin American influences, international cuisine fusions and Aussie classics with a twist. They create 100% artisan desserts and treats, always fresh, always unique, with the home-made touch everyone loves and crave. They can satisfy your daily cravings, create celebration cakes, dessert tables, gift boxes and baking parties. They also have dessert subscriptions. Dessert delivered to your door? Yes please! They will be offering 20% off subscriptions to all Foodie Fair attendees.

Feel like something sweet? Award-winning Pure Gelato will have mini cones for all foodies to sample from their gorgeous gelato cart! Their cart is available to hire for weddings and events.

Bellair Coffee will be there to give you your caffeine hit to keep you energised while you explore the CWF. They provide an exceptional coffee experience in a mobile and convenient environment. Unlike a brick and mortar establishment, they are not bound by their location. Their mobility allows them to cater for all types of events, festivals, markets and more. Their mission is to bring the café experience and quality to the people.

The CFW has chosen to support Karinya House, a local not for profit organisation that supports vulnerable and at risk pregnant, and early parenting women in our region. Karinya House will also have their charity water bottle for sale and an ICON refillable water station.

Bring your keep cup when you visit Bellair Coffee at the Foodie Fair and get 50 cents off your coffee. The 50 cents you save will go directly to Karinya House!

There will also be an #instaworthy ‘Cabana’ for you to escape, relax and enjoy a mocktail, a big white jumping castle for the kids (big and small) and much more! You can find out more about CWF by visiting the website.

There’s lots of free parking available so mark Sunday February 24th February in your diary, bring a picnic blanket and stop in to enjoy the first Foodie Fair!

Book your CWF tickets online for your chance to WIN an Outrigger Resort, beachfront bliss Fiji getaway valued at $2000.
