Four Winds Vineyard: Pizza and wine in the sunshine

Four Winds Vineyard - pizza and wine

Pizza and wine in the sunshine is one of the ways you need to spend at least one of your days this summer. The perfect place to do just that is Four Winds Vineyard. An easy 35-minute drive from Canberra CBD will land you in amazing wine country, surrounded by some of the regions best wineries with Four Winds Vineyard being one of them.

Sarah Collingwood, co-owner of Four Winds Vineyard, recently took out the Australian Women in Wine Award for Owner/Operator of the year. A very well-deserved win, and a visit to Four Winds Vineyard will help explain why. Four Winds Vineyard have the perfect set up and you could easily lose track of time sipping on their award-winning wine, and feasting on their wood-fired pizzas by the vineyard. You can also create your own platter choosing from a selection gourmet delights, including smoked meats from Poacher’s Pantry, and chocolate from Enigma Chocolates.

We recently stopped in on our way back to Canberra after a night in Yass. It was buzzing when we arrived at about 2:30pm on a Saturday afternoon. Pizzas stop cooking at 3pm so make sure you arrive before then so you don’t miss out! But if you do then you can still make your own platter from all the goodies in the deli fridge. There’s also a $25pp all you can eat pizza option for groups of 10 or more people.

We arrived just before a big group so we placed out orders quickly and found a barrel table in the sun near the vineyards. There were couples, large groups and small groups happily sipping on wine and soaking up the sunshine. There’s also a massive shed if you don’t want to sit in the sun or if the weather turns. It would also be the perfect location to run an event.

As we had eaten our way around Yass that morning, we weren’t overly hungry so we were satisfied with one pizza and a few glasses of the 2015 Sangiovese. This multi-award winning wine went beautifully with the potato and gorgonzola pizza that we ordered. The pizza was delicious and cooked to perfection. I can definitely see us back at Four Winds Vineyard devouring more pizzas and wine this summer!
