Verity Lane Market has been bubbling away behind closed doors for some time now. On Thursday 22 October, the new food hall will open in the centre of Canberra and it will call the Sydney Building home. Head down Verity Lane and you’ll find spacious indoor and outdoor seating areas, an array of gastronomic delights and a drink or two to quench your thirst.
The market will open with three kitchens and will eventually have six dining options to tantalise your tastebuds. To start, foodies will be able to choose to dine at Enoki Project, driven by Gerald Ong of Chairman and Yip fame. The menu will feature a range of modern Asian dishes and judging by the photos on Instagram, we’re in for a treat.
Next up is Ramen Daddy, the venture of locals Eddy Tsai and John Leverink who have merged French and Japanese cultures to create a modern menu of ramen deliciousness.
What food hall would be complete without some Italian delights to feast on? Silvio Miceli’s Pizza Artigiana (one of Canberra’s best pizza joints) will be spreading their wings and serving up traditional wood-fired Italian pizza in the city.
Drinks will be shaken, stirred and poured at the early 20th century inspired Verity Bar with an array of wines, spirits and craft beers on offer. Of course there will also be cocktails, curated by cocktail connoisseur, Benito Drovandi.
The Market is the brainchild of innovator Phillip Keir, previous Australian publisher of Rolling Stone Magazine.
“We have a number of exciting vendors ready to move into our remaining three kitchens and have planned for some unique and exciting pop-ups to open before the end of the year,” says Mr Keir.
This is the first stage of a larger food precinct that will take over this historic corner of the Sydney Building.
Verity Lane Market will be open from Wednesday – Saturday from 4pm until late. Visit their website or find them on Facebook or Instagram to find out more.
