Can’t say no to those puppy eyes begging you to stay in when you’re heading out? Take them with you to one of these pooch-friendly spots around Canberra. Because while humans are great, nothing beats a catch up with your furry friend, right?
The Cupping Room (1/1-13 University Ave, Canberra)
This cafe isn’t only one of the top places to get a coffee or bite to eat in town, it’s also a magnet for some particularly adorable four-legged visitors. Need proof? They have their own Instagram account dedicated to them. Exhibit A:
Pedlar (65 Constitution Ave, Campbell)
Head to The Pedlar from 7am for breakfast, lunch or dinner 7 days a week with your furry friend by your side. Campbell’s first pub dishes up a selection of dishes with plenty of gluten free and vegetarian options available. Visit on a Sunday for their $15 schnitzel and schooner deal. Can’t make it on a Sunday? They have lots of other great deals during the week.
Beef & Barley (Kingston Foreshore)
Grab a burger with your four-legged friend at Beef & Barley at Kingston Foreshore. Go for a walk around Lake Burley Griffin before or after your burger to walk off some of those calories! Beef & Barley also do an epic burger high tea.
Doubleshot Cafe (7 Hopetoun Circuit, Deakin)
The majority of seating at this hip inner south cafe is outdoors, so plenty of space to dine together with your furry friend. Relax and soak up the sun in the leafy courtyard while you feast on Doubleshot’s innovative menu, bursting with fresh produce, or stick around for one of their famous peanut butter smoothies.
Capital Brewing Co (3/1 Dairy Rd, Fyshwick)
Humans aren’t the only ones who enjoy a nice, refreshing beer. Every so often, Canberra’s own Capital Brewing Co in Fyshwick serves up doggy beer! Even when that’s not on tap, dogs are always welcome at the brewery, with plenty of space for them to run around and water bowls to keep them hydrated. Meanwhile, you can relax with a fresh beer, brewed right next to you, and tuck into a Brodburger.
Teddy Pickers (67 Constitution Ave, Campbell)
This Campbell cafe loves to spoil their handsome four-legged visitors! Their all day menu is top notch, with generous serves, so settle in and ‘woof’ down some chow while your pooch gets the adoration they deserve.
Edgar’s Inn (1 Edgar St, Ainslie)
Ainslie Shops’ main watering hole welcomes dogs of all shapes and sizes in their huge outdoor space which boasts plenty of shade. Open all day every day, you can lap up the surrounds over breakfast, coffees, lunch, an afternoon bevvie or even dinner.
Local Press (35 Eastlake Parade, Kingston)
For the health-conscious pup who enjoys their outings with killer lake views, head to Local Press. The Kingston Foreshore cafe offers up an all day menu of wholesome, delicious eats, brimming with seasonal, local produce. They even offer table service now so you don’t need to leave your furry friend outside while you order.
Barrio (59/30 Lonsdale St, Braddon)
Another one that’s an absolute magnet for some of the most boop-able canines around. Don’t have a dog of your own? Grab a coffee or three from Barrio’s expert baristas inside, grab a pew outside, then wait. You’ll thank me later.
