By day, EQ Cafe and Lounge in Deakin is a pumping spot with its own on-site bakehouse, keeping the locals happy with fresh eats, relaxed dining and plenty of coffees. On Fridays it’s even a delightful spot for tapas and a well-earned glass of wine.

Take a quick look around the venue and it’s no surprise it makes for a great spot for functions, with its light-filled, spacious interior and huge heated outdoor alfresco area. The modern space mixes recycled timber with plenty of greenery, equalling a versatile space that can be dressed up to suit the occasion, and always looks great in photos.
Their smaller private function space can fit up to 50 people, while the whole venue can cater for up to 250 people standing, or 100 seated.
EQ boasts a range of catering options, from canapés through to a full sit-down dinner. Think canapés of truffle and parmesan arancini balls (see the feature image), yellowfin tuna tartare with wasabi mayo or plum and five spice confit duck rice paper rolls. If you want a more formal dining option for your event, you can choose to sit down and dig into beetroot and dill cured salmon or lamb shoulder with eggplant puree, eggplant cannelloni and dolloped saffron coconut yoghurt.
And what’s a great event without cake? EQ’s on-site bakery not only makes for delicious catering options, but also means their head baker can custom make a creation specifically for you.
The conference room already boasts in-house facilities, but they can also arrange additional equipment hire, entertainment and transportation to suit requirements
For more formal events, they can arrange for the venue to be styled by a professional. And yes, there’s plenty of room for a dance floor – they can even sort the DJ for you.
