Good Food Month announces 2019 Canberra Program

Good Food Month is one of my favourite times of year. It’s a month that features foodie events that highlight some of Canberra’s culinary stars. It also brings international and national chefs to the nation’s capital to celebrate all things food. It also means that the popular Night Noodle Markets is just around the corner.

Good Food Month officially kicks off on 1 March with the launch of Night Noodle Markets at Reconciliation Place. 2018 saw thousands of Canberrans flock to the markets to get their noodle fix, and this year the sizzling nights will once again be packed with Asian Hawker-style signature dishes and innovative tastes from Hoy Pinoy, Chur Burger, Churken, Shallot Thai, Mr Bao, Bangkok Street Food, What the Pho, Bao Brothers, May’s Malaysian Hawker, Twistto, Flying Noodles, Little Kyoto, Waffleland, Wok Master, Satay Brothers, Donburi Station with many more to be announced.

Good Food Month will also bring together international and local culinary superstars for three unforgettable food events, with some already selling out.

Lennox Hastie from Firedoor and James Viles from two-hatted Biota Dining that’s currently ranked 46 in Australia’s Top Restaurants, will turn up the heat for a sizzling four-course menu cooked over fire at Pialligo Estate.

Three of the hottest rising chefs from Canberra’s top restaurants will take over the kitchen at Aubergine under the guidance of head chef and owner, Ben Willis.

Adam Liaw’s sold out event will take food lovers on an edible history through the past, present and future of Chinese food in Australia with Kwok Keung Tung, head chef at Michelin-starred restaurant, Chairman Hong Kong. You can join the waitlist if more tickets become available.

The return of Friends of Good Food Month (1-31 March), will see Canberra’s friends of culinary excellence curate their own special and truly memorable occasions. More events will be announced in February.

“This year’s program celebrates some of the incredible influences that have made the Australia culinary landscape what it is today and continue to inspire its evolution, from cooking with fire to Cantonese classics. We are also incredibly proud to shine a light on the young rising talent fuelling our nation’s capital and shaping its exciting culinary future,” said Venessa Cowell, Director of Food Events, Fairfax Events & Entertainment.
