Six new eateries to open at Westfield Woden

Westfield Woden’s new dining precinct on Bradley St is on the verge of opening. The new food and beverage venues are a much needed addition to the Woden and southside dining options so let’s hope they are impressive.

Celebrations will kick off from tomorrow, Thursday 18th April and will continue over the Easter long weekend and the following weekend. There will be plenty of activities for the kids including a Grill’d masterclass. So you might want to check it out if you’ve got little ones and you’re looking for something to do over the holidays. There will also be a pop up Chandon S bar, free flowers and free hot dogs! So what eateries are opening?

The Bavarian

Did someone say free hot dogs? They sure did! The Bavarian will open on Thursday 18th April and will be giving away 500 free hot dogs to the first 500 customers from 11am.

The Bavarian has a family-friendly menu that includes traditional Bavarian favourites, such as The Bavarian’s legendary crispy pork knuckle, crackling pork belly, a range of classic German and gourmet sausages, shared platters (see the photo at the top of the article), and an assortment of schnitzels. Lighter bites include chicken wings, spicy squid and build-your-own salads from a checklist of fresh ingredients.

They will also have two meat platters, each designed to share between two people. The pork platter ($35 per person) features half a crispy pork knuckle, smoked pork belly and crackling, Nurnberger pork sausage and soft bao buns. A BBQ platter ($35 per person) comprises of meaty pork ribs, spiced pulled pork, smoked pork belly, corn on the cob, soft pretzel buns and is served with cabbage slaw and pickles.

They will have specials on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday with happy hour from 4pm to 6pm every day, offering $5 beer, wine and spirits and $1 chicken wings.

There will also be 20 beers on tap, including imported Bavarian favourites.

The Bavarian in Woden is Rockpool Dining Group’s 28th Bavarian restaurant in Australia and first restaurant in Canberra.

Fenway Public House

Fenway is a casual pub and will open its doors to the public for the first time on Saturday 20th April. The venue boasts multi-levels including a mezzanine which overlooks a large U-shaped bar, a sunken indoor beer garden, marquee inspired cocktail sunroom and a small stage to facilitate Tuesday Jazz nights and acoustic music Friday, through to Sunday and Sunday sessions. There’s also a kid’s playground, large integrated TVs and there will be dog friendly events on Sunday mornings!

Named after Fenway Park, arguably one of the most beloved ballparks is the US, it will no doubt be a good place to enjoy a cold beer and watch a sports game or two. Expect classic pub food like lamb shanks, pot pies, schnitty, steaks and a snacks menu. They will also have a range of local and international beer and will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Breakfast and desserts that will be available at Fenway Public House.

Other venues to open are Sugar Rush, Espresso Warrior, Sushi Musa and North East.
