High Tea, fashion and fun

The High Tea Party is returning to the Hyatt in Canberra on 15th and 16th September! You can choose from the 4 sittings on each day and you’ll be treated to a fashion show while you’re served sparkling wine, decadent sweet and savoury treats and of course, tea.

High Tea is a quintessential daily ritual for the royals, so why not pretend you’re Queen Lizzy (or your favourite member of the royal family) for a few hours and indulge in this delectable event. We also have a promo code that will give Eat Canberra 50% off the ticket price. Read on to find out what it is.

I took one of my besties to The High Tea Party last year and it was a fun excuse to get dressed up, have some girl time and enjoy some delicious food in a beautiful venue. The event is for everyone! Last year there were couples, friends, families and mothers with their children. The event has become so popular over the years and Australian Women’s Weekly are now the major event partner.

Just remember to give yourself enough time before or after your sitting so you can check out all of the fashion and beauty stalls. Yes, that’s right, there’s shopping involved if you want there to be. Retail therapy and high tea? Yes please! You can also enjoy a mini pamper session.

There’s also a VIP option but it’s already sold out on Saturday 15th September so be quick if you want to secure your VIP tickets for Sunday 16th. The VIP ticket includes extended high tea sessions, beautiful teaware, exclusive pampering, a gift valued at $50, table service and extra goodies to take home!

We also have a SPECIAL offer for Eat Canberra readers – lucky you! You can get your tickets for only $60 + booking fee when you enter the code EAT at the checkout! Tickets are $120 without the code.

Find out more about the event and get your tickets before they sell out!

  1. I am busy mum of five and love going out to high tea with my friends . I love the mix of sweet and savoury food and a good cup of tea.

    1. I’m new to Canberra and have not had a chance to do much at all since moving here, would you believe in January as I was pregnant. Now I have my precious little 3 month old. It would mean so much to me to be able to go out for the day to a high tea and take my mum. This new mummy needs a lovely day out xx

  2. As a Mummy, I love being able to have “me time” and to be able to take some time for myself – to put on a dress, do my make up and just be girly and carefree for a few hours of fun & to have shopping opportunities included……well that makes it even better!
Sounds like a fabulous time to be had with a friend!
    Thankyou

  3. For myself my mum and sister, high tea is our special occasion event. Mums 55th birthday, when my sister got married and when she found out she was pregnant (after being told she couldnt) and just recently as a girls catch up between all my cousins. 😍

  4. High tea for me is absolutely about the tiny cakes and the chance to consume as much fancy tea as possible (in beautifully delicate tea cups of course), all with the company of those special people who make mornings better somehow.

  5. Used to love playing ‘grown ups’ at these Hyatt decadent affairs years ago. Now retired, can’t afford that luxury until this discounted price.TY

  6. My favourite thing about high tea is the food! And the dressing up! And the champagne! And basically everything, I love high tea.

  7. I love the elegance and sophistication of high tea! It’s so situated in other worldly etiquette, offers bite size portions (so to not smear one’s lipstick), and requires whispers around the table which is almost unheard of in other dining settings.

  8. I love getting glammed up and making a day of it with my besties!

  9. I love High Tea as the food is delicious, it makes me feel relaxed and I can escape the hustle and bustle of daily life whilst spending time with friends.

  10. Frocking up and doning a glass of champas or two to celebrate a weekend with friends

  11. I love that I can leave the kids with hubby for a few hours and actually have an adult conversation with my friends before I have to get back to reality. 😂

  12. High teas are MADE for busy women who deserve some uninterrupted experience of amazing food (bubbles) and tea! 🍰🥪☕️🥂

  13. Food and fashion is such a great combo! Being able to dress up and catch up with the girls is always guaranteed to be a great time, who doesn’t love food?

  14. Heart-to-heart talks with the ladies are treasured moments. With my move to another state next January, it would be lovely to spend some “girlie” time with girlfriends whom made life happen for me in Canberra. “Sweet ending to new beginnings”

  15. It’s so delicious and decadent! I go weak in the knees just hinking about it! I was unable to attend last year, so I’d love to take my cousin and our besties this year!

  16. Spending time with a girlfriend, getting dressed up and being able to drink tea while it is still hot and indulge in cake without being interrupted by a three year old!!

  22. High tea is what brings my friends and I together! We are all so busy with kids and life but make the effort to come together for high tea all over Canberra!

  23. Look, I’m not the biggest fan of high tea (love the food, ambivalent about the rest), but I’m being sent overseas for work for a few weeks in September, and would really just like to win this so my partner can go and do something nice with a friend while I’m not here (so that hopefully she forgives me for not being here).

  24. It makes you feel fancy and special. An elegant environment where you get to doll up, enjoy good food, tea and company.

  25. It’s an experience that’s shared in a caring environment that embraces spending to with your girlfriends. so you can sit back, relax and eat baby sandwiches.

  26. High Tea is the perfect excuse to dress up with gal pals, have a laugh and bond over food, fashion and beverages while watching the world go by. Moments of which, are few and far between.

  27. What’s not to love about High Tea? I love being able to get dressed up and indulge in a little bit of decadence; tasty morsels of scrumdiddlyumptious food, a glass of bubbly, and tea served in fine bone china … simply divine. Would be an absolutely fantabulous way to celebrate my youngest daughter’s ‘sweet 16’ birthday

  28. I love how High Tea always seems so seemingly light from first glance, but is in fact incredibly filling and decadent! I always get fooled and left with a food coma after devouring delicious sandwiches and cakes.

  29. What’s not to love about High Tea? Getting dressed up to go and partake in scrumdiddlyumptious morsels of food, a glass of bubbly, and tea served in fine bone china … simply divine, and what better way to celebrate my youngest daughter’s ‘sweet 16’ birthday

  30. I love to enjoy sweets and savoury together especially with a good friend and just chat along the way. It’s a very relaxing and fun activity!

  31. Life has been a bit crazy lately!! I should love to take my bestie and ooo and ahhh over the fab food and make my husband pick us up so we can have a 2nd glass of bubbles. Such a luxurious experience!!

  32. High Tea is something me and my sister do to connect and catch up. As we get older we do this less and less often unfortunately. However we always try to make the effort to fit one in where we can.

  33. I have been wanting to start taking my daughter out for high tea on special occasions. Haven’t had a chance since living in small country towns… the last time I went to one she was 9 months old! The weekend this high tea party is on will be her 9th birthday! Lol see… it’s been a while

  34. Love any excuse to dress up and indulge a little. Also, I’m fairly sure calories don’t count when you share with friends!

  35. I love the whole experience of a high tea with some of my besties. Being a mum for two boisterous boys i often don’t get much me time let alone time with some close friends, but when I do, I really enjoy going to high teas!

  36. What is there not to LOVE about high tea, perfect day out catching up with your girlfriends from the amazing cute scrumptious food to the beverages… pure bliss!

  40. I have wonderful memories of High Tea at the Hyatt with my friend many, many years ago. We have been friends for 38 years and still try to see each other every year for our birthdays. It’s a celebration of friendship.

  41. i love getting dressed up and enjoying some me time its a great excuse to catch up with a friend and relax for a while

  42. I love the occasion and “tradition” that high tea brings, and how this can be interpreted to make high tea an event to remember, whether daily, or in my case a few years, between high tea’s 😉
Being able to dress up, sip on some sparkling before enjoying a range of delicious treats, and getting to enjoy the warmth that a cup of tea brings. It’s the best way to spend time with your friends!

The delicious food and beverage is always a bonus too!

  51. I’ve always been the entertainer in my friendship group and love nothing more then seeing everyone’s face when it comes to my food preparations. I’m the ‘dessert queen’ as they say and when I host a high tea my chocolate creme brulee is always a crowd favourite. I grew up in a big family for the love of food and this time I’d love to be the guest to a high tea.

  52. I love little cakes and pastries and as a single mum I love any chance to spoil myself!
