Tikka Take opens its doors in the city

Tikka Take opened its doors on Monday and is the newest fast-food style restaurant to come to Canberra, serving up fresh, wholesome and affordable meals with an Indian flare.

The food is cooked to order and made right in front of your eyes, using state-of-the-art cooking technology that is yet to be seen in Canberra or Australia.

Tikka Take embraces traditional Indian spices, while offering new and unique blends and flavours.

Founder and owner, Ankit Patel, says that his tikkas are not like your average Indian fare.

“The taste you get here is unlike any other. Tikka is an ancient food, and very famous in India. It is simply the cooking of meat on skewers over heat,” said Ankit.

“What we’ve aimed to achieve is a new way of enjoying tikka, designed for today’s active and busy lifestyle.

“Everything we serve is completely unique and our equipment is not used anywhere else – we really want to give people something they’ve never tried before in Canberra or Australia.”

The new restaurant boasts a DIY juice bar, state-of-the art cooking technology, and a spacious sitting area, made from entirely raw, recyclable material.

“Our philosophy shows in every aspect of Tikka Take. Our design layout uses industrial, raw materials. We only serve natural produce and all our packaging is bio-degradable and eco-friendly,” says Ankit.

Ankit and his wife, Jyoti, have years of experience managing and owning franchises around Canberra.

Quitting his day job in engineering in 2015, Ankit decided it was time they created their own restaurant, and so Tikka Take was born.

“Tikka Take may be fast food, but it is healthy and wholesome. There definitely aren’t enough options like this in Canberra, so we are excited to provide them.” says Ankit.
