The Cupping Room Cookbook

Eat Canberra

Last night I was at the launch of The Cupping Room’s first cookbook. This local cafe is a brunch hot spot and has amazing food and incredible coffee inspired by a World Barista Champion.

The Cupping Room Cookbook was created in five weeks – amazing – in partnership with local independent publisher, Seed Press. This collaboration is the first publication for Seed Press and the first cookbook by The Cupping Room. You’ll find recipes for the best brunch dishes from The Cupping Room menus since its opening three years ago. The book also contains a ‘Cuppers Larder’ to represent the café’s own kitchen larder. The Cuppers Larder will contain everything from how to perfectly poach an egg, to the recipe for The Cupping Room’s lemonade foam.

Jack Scheeren, Co-owner of The Cupping Room, says that the café, known for its passion for speciality coffee, has become a Canberra favourite thanks to its unique menu.

“Whenever we changed our menus, people would always be excited to try what was new, but there was always one menu item that they were sad to see go.

“We’re so excited to celebrate the food that has come out of The Cupping Room through our new cookbook, and show people a simple way they can recreate the dishes,” he said.

Open the cookbook and you’ll find recipes for the octopus and chorizo salad, hotcakes with apple and rhubarb, beetroot salad, Spanish mess and HEAPS more.

The cookbook will also contain the recipe from World Barista Champion, ONA Coffee Founder and The Cupping Room Owner, Sasa Sestic’s signature drink. The recipe contains a complex combination of carbonic macerated coffee cherries, plum reduction and unfermented shiraz juice. The recipe, which helped Sestic win the World Barista Championship title in 2015, is broken down in The Cupping Room Cookbook, giving readers and coffee lovers the chance to try it for themselves.

The Cupping Room Cookbook is already available and you can purchase it online or at The Cupping Room, University Ave, Canberra.

It’s amazing to see Canberra’s food scene continue to grow, impress and push the barriers. We’re so lucky to have so much talent and amazing produce in the nation’s capital. It was a privilege to be invited to the launch of what I’m sure is the first of many more great things to come from The Cupping Room team.

Spoil yourself, add it to your Christmas wish list or purchase it for a fellow food lover. You can buy The Cupping Room Cookbook for $49.95 online.

The delicious canapés I tried at the launch are examples of the quality food that The Cupping Room create. See the photos below.
