Top Gun Catering helps Canberra businesses take flight

Eat Canberra

A few months ago you might remember seeing lots of posts asking you to vote for Eat Canberra to win an event launch with Danielle Cleary Events (DCE). Unfortunately Eat Canberra didn’t win but we were SO close and we were a finalist out of more than 40 local businesses who entered.

Starting a business is hard work in more ways than one – starting two businesses and working a full time 9-5 (me) is even harder – and this event helped increase exposure and create more networks for many Canberra businesses.

The DCE ‘Take Flight’ launch party was held on 22 July for the three winning Canberra businesses – Grande Building Services, Rojo Customs and Trove. The event was sponsored by local businesses Barlens and Nova Multimedia with Lulu & Sis creating beautiful cakes for each of the winners.

The event also featured Kate Carnell, Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman and Kristen Henry of Mix 106.3’s Kristen & Rod for Breakfast.

I wasn’t able to make the party because I had organised a surprise in Sydney for Mr Eat Canberra’s birthday – did you see the Ferrari photo on Instagram and Facebook? Although I wasn’t there I wanted to contribute in some way so I recommended local catering business Top Gun Catering to cater the event.

Top Gun Catering is owned and run by Anthony Holloway who started the business six years ago. Anthony has 18 years experience in the hospitality industry and said the flexibility and creativity are two of the things that inspire him to do what he does.

“I like the ability to create and work with my hands. Cooking has so many different elements to it. It’s a rolling task of challenges and creativity and that’s something that I really enjoy.”

He prides his business on providing top service and top quality food. When I asked him what was his mission for his business he said “To be able to constantly evolve and deliver a service that makes clients happy.”

So what’s Anthony’s favourite style of cooking?

“Anything slow and low! Slow cooking allows you to really develop rich intense flavours.”

Anthony and his team at Top Gun Catering created a special menu for the Take Flight launch party and served a delicious range of canapés throughout the evening.
