Have you been to Olleyville? It’s the restaurant at Murrumbateman’s premium family-owned winery, Shaw Vineyard Estate and it reopened in August. The restaurant is a short drive from Canberra and the menu has something for everyone. I took Mr Eat Canberras mum there for lunch on a Friday and we were very impressed. We agreed that it would be a great location for lunch or dinner with the rest of the family. Continue reading Lunch at Olleyville
XO Restaurant in Narrabundah has been on my ‘to eat’ list since they opened. Their food photos and recipes in The Capital Cookbook 3, and more recently Gourmet Traveller, have been tempting me for a long time. So I gave some (not so subtle) hints to Mr Eat Canberra about where I wanted to go for my birthday dinner…. He got the hint and whisked me off to XO last week and I was over the moon with the whole experience. It took me a little while to get there but it was definitely worth the wait. If a sophisticated, intimate night out filled with delicious, flavoursome food and top service is what you’re after then, Lilotang is the place for you.
As soon as I heard about the opening of Lilotang knew it was going to be up there with some of Canberra’s best restaurants. But after spending two months overseas last year and a year filled with interstate travel, lots of working and a super busy year I still hadn’t made it there.
But this year Mr Eat Canberra took me to the Japanese fine-dining restaurant for my birthday and I’m pleased to say it was definitely worth the wait…. Continue reading A night at Lilotang
I have been in awe of Sage Dining Rooms since I moved to Canberra. But for a reason unknown to me I haven’t dined there before. I’ve eaten at Courgette and Aubergine in Canberra, Aria in Sydney, The Modern and Marea in New York and other incredible restaurants in Australia, Asia and South America. But Sage remained on my ‘to eat’ list, until recently.
I’m always so excited and intrigued when I go to fine dining restaurants. I love the beautifully plated dishes that look like masterpieces on a plate with a combination of flavours and concepts you’ve never imagined. I love the sense of amazement I feel as the wait staff explain the dish and all of it’s components as they place the faultless plane in front of me. Continue reading A Sage Dining Experience
Last week Mr Eat Canberra and I went to the media launch for Hoi Polloi, the new restaurant at Old Parliament House. It was a fun night filled with delicious food and a #pollieburger competition. Everything about the night was unique! Ten other food bloggers and I entered the competition for our chance to have our burger featured on the menu with a possibility of it becoming a permanent item on the menu.
