There are new restaurants popping up in Canberra all the time and my ‘to eat’ list is always growing. I love checking out new places so I was really excited when I received an invitation to dine at Darbar Indian Restaurant in Braddon.
My welcome to the Eat Canberra team involved an amazing day out at the Pialligo Estate Orchard Lunch. I know what you’re thinking – not your average old coffee chasing internship! Well yes I was awfully lucky to get invited as it was a Canberra foodie’s dream. Continue reading Paddock to plate at Pialligo Estate – our day out at the Orchard Lunch
Have you ever wondered what it feels like to be a judge on MKR or Masterchef Australia? Well if you head in for a Taste & Test experience at Sage Restaurant then you’ll come pretty close to wearing the pants (or cravat) of Matt Preston or judging whether or not there’s enough sauce like Manu Fieldel. If there’s not enough sauce or you think one of the dishes is missing something then you can score the dish down or leave a comment to suggest improvements. Sounds like fun doesn’t it? Continue reading Taste & Test at Sage Restaurant

XO Restaurant in Narrabundah has been on my ‘to eat’ list since they opened. Their food photos and recipes in The Capital Cookbook 3, and more recently Gourmet Traveller, have been tempting me for a long time. So I gave some (not so subtle) hints to Mr Eat Canberra about where I wanted to go for my birthday dinner…. He got the hint and whisked me off to XO last week and I was over the moon with the whole experience. It took me a little while to get there but it was definitely worth the wait. It’s not often you can say that you felt like a celebrity (unless you actually are one) but for some reason that’s how I felt when I entered the revolving door and was greeted by security as I turned the corner, walked down the gorgeous set of stairs and stepped onto the large, red carpet at Casino Canberra. The giant, sparkling chandelier that sat above the marbled bar at the end of the red carpet might have added to the feeling. Everything felt expensive and glamorous! There’s no doubt that Braddon, Kingston Foreshore and surrounding areas are sexy, trendy dining hubs with an array of incredible foodie hot spots to choose from.
But we’re seeing more and more cafes and restaurants popping up in the suburbs. They’re injecting some life back into the old suburban shops and these friendly suburban cafes are worth crossing town for. Continue reading Hidden breakfasts hot spots in the suburbs
Spring is here! That means longer days and warmer weather. It also means we’re coming out of winter hibernation (does a happy dance). What better way to enjoy the weather then with a walk along the Kingston Foreshore with your lover, friends or family. While you’re there you can stop in and treat yourself to an ice cream or a delicious dessert from Mövenpick. That’s what we did recently! Continue reading Decadent dessert on the Foreshore
