A few months ago you might remember seeing lots of posts asking you to vote for Eat Canberra to win an event launch with Danielle Cleary Events (DCE). Unfortunately Eat Canberra didn’t win but we were SO close and we were a finalist out of more than 40 local businesses who entered. Determined, driven and passionate are words I would use to describe Yanna Dascarolis. Simple, stylish and sophisticated is how I would describe her new venture, Artisan Canberra. Yanna and her husband Peter are both lawyers but they’ve always had a passion for food. They’ve owned a number of coffee carts in the past few years and Yanna’s family have owned cafes in Canberra for 20 years. Continue reading Canberra’s newest cafe: Artisan Canberra
Do you remember seeing the photo above on Facebook or Instagram last month? Well let me tell you where I got these crispy, flavoursome pork belly baos from. For the second Holden State of Origin match I attended a special event at the GIO Stadium Canberra, organised by Danielle Cleary Events. I love a big bowl of spicy laksa any time of the year but it’s always better during winter because it warms you up when you need it the most! Laksa is one of my favourite Asian soups although it’s a tough competition between the creamy, flavoursome laksa and an aromatic bowl of Vietnamese pho. I love going out for laksa with friends or for a cheap date night but it’s also really easy to make at home. You can whip up this cheat’s version of Laksa pretty quickly and you could even have some leftovers to take for lunch the next day. Continue reading Soup of the week: Quick and Easy Laksa
Truffle – a strong-smelling underground fungus that resembles an irregular, rough-skinned potato. While it doesn’t sound very appealing these balls of fungus are a culinary delight and just a slither can transform a dish from ordinary to extraordinary. The average truffle weighs 30-60g and can cost anywhere from $30-$75 but a little goes a long way. Truffles are featured on the finest menus in Canberra, Australia, Paris, New York and around the world. You will see them everywhere at the moment because June marked the beginning of truffle season in Canberra. Continue reading An exquisite evening at the luxurious Hyatt Hotel Canberra
